Walter is a London-based opera & theatre director whose experience spans classic and contemporary works. Interested in clear, dynamic, and engaging storytelling, his recent credits include three new operas: In Five Years' Time (The Space Theatre, 2026); The Rapture (Tête à Tête Festival, 2025) and Buster's Trip (Tête à Tête Festival, 2024). Revival directing credits include The Merry Opera Company's staged Messiah. Assistant directing credits include Trouble in Tahiti/The Seven Deadly Sins (Opera Prelude at Opera Holland Park); Die Fledermaus, Hänsel und Gretel, and Così fan tutte (all tours for The Merry Opera Company); Orphée aux Enfers, Don Giovanni, Der Rosenkavalier, Acis, Galatea & Polifemo, Don Pasquale, and Suor Angelica/Gianni Schicchi (Opéra de Baugé); and four sets of Opera Scenes for the Morley College Opera School.
Walter has a BA in Classical Studies from the University Of Bristol where, as a student, he directed three operas (Die Fledermaus, The Elixir of Love, and Ethel Smyth's Fête Galante), and an outdoor production of Sophocles' Antigone. After graduating, he undertook observerships at Opera Holland Park, Garsington, Vache Baroque, and the Royal Ballet & Opera.
Forthcoming engagements include directing Fort, a new opera for Tête à Tête: The Opera Festival 2026; Façade/Fête Galante for Wit's End at the Tower Theatre; and assistant directing/stage managing Merry Opera's tour of The Barber of Seville.
