About

Walter is a London-based opera & theatre director whose experience spans classic and contemporary works. Interested in clear, dynamic, and engaging storytelling, his recent credits include three new operas by composer Edward Lambert: In Five Years' Time (The Space Theatre, 2026), The Rapture (Tête à Tête Festival, 2025), and Buster's Trip (Tête à Tête Festival, 2024). Revival directing credits include The Merry Opera Company's staged Messiah. Assistant directing credits include Die Fledermaus, Hänsel und Gretel, and Così fan tutte (all tours for The Merry Opera Company), Orphée aux Enfers, Don Giovanni, and Der Rosenkavalier (Opéra de Baugé), and three sets of Opera Scenes for the Morley College Opera School.

Walter has a BA in Classical Studies from the University Of Bristol where as a student he directed three operas (Die Fledermaus, The Elixir of Love, and Ethel Smyth's Fête Galante), and an outdoor production of Sophocles' Antigone. After graduating, he undertook observerships at Opera Holland Park, Garsington, and Vache Baroque, and more recently at the Royal Ballet & Opera.

Forthcoming engagements include assistant directing Acis, Galatea & Polifemo, Don Pasquale, and Suor Angelica/Gianni Schicchi for Opéra de Baugé, a double-bill of Trouble in Tahiti and Die Sieben Tödsunden for Opera Prelude at Opera Holland Park, and directing a new work currently in development for the Tête à Tête Festival.

'[The Rapture] drew rave reviews and pulled in audiences entirely new to opera.'
